About project
Letapis – is a platform that allows you to post historical materials from family archives, memories of participants, their children and grandchildren, as well as various materials related to the history of the country. The Letapis IT platform is based on the collected material for the book «Chronicle of the Great Patriotic War: Let’s Remember Everyone» and is open for replenishment with materials from historians, local historians, museums, teachers, students – all citizens of the country who have a desire to talk about their ancestors, on whose fate the war left a deep imprint.
The family archives of Belarusians contain a huge layer of historically significant documents and materials related to the past of our country. Thus, the history of the country is revealed through the fate of its inhabitants.
The publication of «Chronicle of the Great Patriotic War: Let’s Remember Everyone» books 1 and 2, revealed great interest in the topic of the destinies of people affected by the war. Not all stories were included in the books, so the creation of the website made it possible to expand the audience and post submitted materials.
Publishing materials on the site makes it possible to connect people who are descendants of events. The site, in its focus, can perform a unifying function for those who are interested in the role of their ancestors in historical events on a temporal and territorial basis.
The process of publishing a book requires a lot of time and financial costs; it is limited by circulation and often by the difficulty of purchasing publications in the regions of Belarus. In contrast to the lengthy process of preparing and publishing a book, publishing submitted materials on the website takes much less time.
